The Edward Group, plain and simple, generates revenue from
commissions on the sale of insurance products and the
commissions on the sale or leasing of real estate.

Insurance:
As stated above we generate revenue by getting paid a commission on sold/placed insurance coverage.  The commissions maybe either a one time commission or it may be a commission at sale (a.k.a. first year commission) with “trailing” or “residual” commissions.   The trailing commissions are either equal to or substantially less than the “first year” commission.

It should be noted that on the insurance side of the ledger some of our carriers may pay for trips to conferences or may take members of our office to a meal.  These are done as way to reward or thank us for continued business or for high levels of achievement attained with a carrier.  We do not let that influence our decisions when helping you decide on an appropriate insurance product(s).  In fact, there are many insurance products or carriers which may pay a higher commission, but that does not mean we will only show you that product or make that as our main recommendation.  A product with a higher commission may be one of the recommendations or “the” recommendation.  If the situation calls for that type of product we will recommend it.  If at any time you wish to uncover the commission or fee paid from the insurance company is, we have no problem sharing that with you and showing how it might compare to other insurance commissions.  Please note that if in the case of working with you there is more than one agent involved, most often there will be a splitting of commissions between the agents.  More than one agent does not mean higher priced insurance.

Insurance Consulting:
While at this time we may offer consultation with a client or potential client about their insurance, we do not charge for this.  At some point in the future we may charge for that service.  It should be noted that if consultation is requested, we only request an opportunity to win and earn your other insurance business or become your agent of record.  By becoming an agent of record, we may begin to receive commissions, depending on the type of insurance.  Most often individual insurance does not pay commissions on change of agent requests.  Most often group insurance would pay commissions upon change of agent requests.

Flint and Associates Inc.:
For those people and clients who are directed to work with Lori or Susan at Flint and Associates, Inc., we get paid a share of the commission paid to Flint and Associates if you purchase insurance with them.  Lori and her company has been a strategic partner since 1994 and this arrangement has worked beautifully for the client, Flint and Associates, Inc. and The Edward Group.

Caveat about internet sales of insurance:
If you are marketed by companies to buy from them via the internet and they note no commission is paid to a person, then they may be right.  However, most likely a commission is still paid, but to a corporation instead of a person.  You may save nothing by seeking products via the internet.

Sharing Insurance Commissions with unlicensed parties:
It is unlawful for us to share or pay a commission to an unlicensed party.  Furthermore in most states it is unlawful for us to pay premiums on your behalf or provide cash inducements to buy insurance from us.  That is called rebating and we will not participate in that.

Real Estate:
As stated we earn our revenues primarily from commissions paid on real estate transactions such as sales, leasing or exchanges, etc.  We currently do not offer property management and therefore do not collect property management fees.  As required by law we will disclose who is paying us fees or commissions in connection to a transaction.  Please note that owners of real estate may pay for meals or trips to properties so that we are knowledgeable about their product.  Example may be a free BBQ at a master planned development grand opening.

Referrals:
Please note that from time to time either we refer or are referred a party seeking to transact real estate between parties.  In those circumstances quite often a referral fee is paid to the referring agent/brokerage.  We both accept/request referrals and pay/are paid referrals.

Negotiable:
In real estate the commissions or fees are negotiable.  There is no set standard.  You may find our commissions/fees to be, either below, at or above what other companies or agents charge.
